"I Wear Black" is "Wild Thing" on steroids. Frat rock gone to hell? Nah, not quite since it sounds like they thrive in the California sun. Layers of noise and fuzz consume the 60's-inspired garage attack, which is what you'd come to expect from the many projects of Ty Segall and his sidekick Mikal Cronin (who also plays bass and sings in the surfy Moonhearts apart from Ty.) It's pretty wild and energetic throughout, but my preferences are "I Wear Black", "Drop Dead Baby", and "Reverse Shark Attack". The duo does tackle a pretty cool cover of Floyd's trippy "Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk" though.
