SONIC'S RENDEZVOUS BAND - Sweet Nothing LP
1998 original, never played (still in shrink but opened to check if colour). Black wax.
This music is what you get when you put members of the greatest Detroit bands of all time together.
Most people have never heard of this band, let alone this release. That is such a damn shame, seeing as they were one of the great unknown American bands of their time. The fact that they were virtually unknown in their own time, is even more tragic. This band existed during the original punk era, and one gets the feeling that if any of those guys had heard them, they would have been schooled by their forefathers. The sound quality of the recording, apparently taken from a soundboard, is shockingly good considering the obscurity of the band. The standout track is the epic jam on "City Slang", but to be fair, everything on here is uniformly excellent.
Fred "Sonic" Smith does his former MC5 band mates proud.
Long live Detroit Rock!
