Highly recommended (and entirely appropriate we enter this title immediately AFTER Steel Pole Bath Tub...)

This is noise-rock/post-hardcore done right, and everything that fellow bands should have been aspiring towards.

RIYL Jesus Lizard, The Birthday Party

Six Finger Satellite were a relatively unknown band hailing from Providence, Rhode Island. The band had this phenomenal debut release, but lost their magic when trying to appeal to a wider, more "mainstream-weird" audience on later releases.

The first track Home for the Holy Day sets the stage for what's to come. A thick chugging bass line, chaotic drums, and discordant atonal guitars peeking through the high end. Jeremiah Ryan's vocals are on point the whole album, his voice fits the instrumentation perfectly and isn't too aggressive or soft.

Tracks like Laughing Larry, Hi-Lo Jerk and Save the Last Dance for Larry build off heavy grooves, while others are built off more intricate guitar lines. The mixing is markedly flat (as with Swans' debut Filth - the original mix) with the bass turned up high. Bob Weston (famous recording engineer and bandmate of Steve Albini) did a phenomenal job with the album.

Overall, if you enjoy noise-rock/post-hardcore from the 80s/90s, this album should be high on your list. Other than the mildly intrusive instrumental pieces, which though they have merit can disrupt the flow of the album otherwise, this album does everything right.
