This is a bleak, bleak album.

Every facet of the band's sound is dialed in for maximum oppressiveness at every moment, from the lurching, ringing guitars and feedback-edged, high pitched bass to the resonant, tribal drums and the vocals delivered such that every word might as well be 'help me.'

The album is produced in a way that heightens every bit of misery while dampening anything that would even dare to flirt with being upbeat. It's basically a 40 minute reminder that the world is a cruel place and that people are out there to hurt you in any way they can.

I mean every one of those sentences as a compliment of the highest order
