Recorded during quarantine while the recording of another album (presumably their next one) was on hold, this album sees the band going in a bold new musical direction, completely different from anything they’ve done before and yet still perfectly in character for them.

With this album the trio of Bob Stanley, Pete Wiggs and Sarah Cracknell tried to create a musical reflection of London in the late 90s, inspired by the way that vaporwave creates a musical reflection of the US west coast in the 80s. In order to do this, the songs on this album are based around samples of songs from this time period (artists sampled include Natalie Imbruglia, The Lightning Seeds, and Tasmin Archer among others), and are then fleshed out with lush electronics, guitars and of course Sarah Cracknell’s gorgeous vocals over top.
