After a blistering hot 2025 that introduced them to the world, Public Figures have cemented themselves as one of Australia’s most compelling new punk acts. The uncompromising project of longtime collaborators Evie Vlah and Gigi Argiro, the band has carved a lane all their own—punk with purpose, earworms at every turn, and songs that swing between identity, power, and resistance with explosive honesty.

Their new EP was born from a period of self-interrogation and exploration for where they two believed they could take the project. The EP captures Public Figures actively working out who they are—sonically, politically, personally. Across the six tracks, they stretch into bigger, bolder production; sharper hooks; and a sound that feels both unruly and meticulously shaped. It’s the sound of a band claiming their space and growing into their edges in real time.

Joined by Lakota Vella on lead guitar and Mary-Lou Hylandson bass, Public Figures have already become a live force to be reckoned with. Despite only being in the scene for just over a year. In their short run, they’ve packed out rooms across Naarm and beyond, sharing stages with Shannon and the Clams (US), Magic Dirt, Gut Health, and delivering a stand-out performance at Fed Square with Amyl and The Sniffers—an iconic moment that affirmed their place in the next wave of Australian punk.
