Following the turmoil of the Ditch Trilogy albums, Neil Young finally reunited with Crazy for the first time in five years on Zuma. They'd guested on some of the tracks on After the Gold Rush (though the tracks in question aren't very typical of the Crazy Horse sound) and appeared on Tonight's the Night (though the track in question was an archival live track from 1970), but this was their first full album collaboration with Young since the brilliant Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. Amazingly, Young pulls it off again; the album is both a logical continuation of the hard rocking sound of that release (see Don't Cry No Tears, Stupid Girl and Drive Back) and the musical direction Neil had been taking in the intervening years.
