MUFFS - Really Really Happy LP
Pop songs lined up for miles. It's a fun ride. Kim Shattuck is either rock's angriest optimist or its happiest pessimist. Either way, she's a charmer. Her songs have always been wise, simple and good at getting right to the point of trashing some fool who deserves it or venting about a bad day. If you ask me, she's getting even better at all of that. The title track here is one of the band's best, a happy song that isn't corny or cloying for a moment. It's an anthem for when a person reaches the stage in life in which they're completely comfortable in their own skin. Its melody is infectious and so is its sentiment. It sums up everything that The Muffs are about and why they're great.
