It was most definitely an album ahead of its time whilst simultaneously speaking about the time that it was released. The video for "Best of Both Worlds" painted a grim picture of the state of the world in the grip of a manic arms race between the US and the USSR. The perceived nuclear threat did indeed hang over one's head.
