KRAKATAU - Terra Ignota LP

Terra Ignota, the long-awaited new album from Melbourne contemporary ensemble Krakatau - a return that signals a shift towards deeper, exploratory forms.

Since 2016’s Tharsis Montes/Apogean Tide, the group have expanded into jazz, world folk and post-minimalism. Named after the cartographic term for “unknown land”, the album reflects years spent probing new sonic terrain.

Across five tracks, Krakatau draw on underground “world” jazz lineage: from the fourth world minimalism of the title track to Latin fusion, ambient duos, and the multi-part Cosmetic Surgery, closing with an ECM-leaning acoustic quartet.
