A lot of people say that this album's predecessor, the defiantly oddball Muswell Hillbillies, was the last great Kinks album, but we disagree: the Kinks still "have it" here in spades.
On the strength of the studio disc alone, Show-Biz is at least as good as Muswell and maybe even Lola. The live record, albeit too short, is a haphazard, boozy good time, featuring Ray as consummately cheeky frontman.
