IGGY POP - Every Loser LP
You know out of all the people in the music business that deserves to be labeled as forever young, it would be Iggy Pop. The legendary Stooges frontman has delivered us some of the rawest, most zany and fun punk of all time and is really one of the starting points when it comes to the development of punk as a genre along with the MC5.
He has also had a pretty solid solo career that amazingly is still going on to this day and somehow manages to find some quality records in the back half of it. This album is no different.
Everything you've come to expect from Iggy you are going to find here and musically the album isn't really reaching new ground or anything but the thing that really elevates this album is that there is not a single point throughout where Iggy sounds tired - this coming from a man who is now 75 years old - as he makes perfect use of both his more manic vocal delivery and his deep baritone.
He is still very much having fun especially with the more catchy punk esque tracks like "Frenzy" or "Modern Day Rip Off". Admittedly, the track "Neo Punk" while it does have some good drum work from Blink 182's Travis Barker and some nice satirical parody on the rich punks of today, him talking about how "old ladies cum when I flash my junk" is uhh... not exactly something I want to think about from a man in his 70s. Or anyone. Ever.
