GRUDGE - When Christine Comes Around 7"

Let me tread VERY carefully here and remind you that a) Strangeworld didn't write or record this song and b) Laurice (aka Grudge) himself has declared "horribly non PC I hope you can all enjoy what started as a little in-joke between writer Simon Godd and myself in 1972 while driving over London Bridge, England."

Even back in 1973 when Alice Cooper and Lou Reed were darkening the airwaves, the lyrics of this one-off single would, I suspect have had you choking on your cornflakes.

Poor Christine, it seems is going to pay a heavy price for cheating on the singer, in fact, it almost sounds like one of those ghoulish messages psychopaths leave before they go on a killing spree.

I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt by assuming it's all intentionally very tongue-in-cheek (it is, see Laurice's statement above).

Great rocking Chuck Berry-esque tune and production too, but it's all about the contrast between the singer's sickly-sweet vocal delivery and the unhinged lyric.

Remember, Strangeworld didn't record "When Christine Comes Around" and you can't sue us for liking something so ridiculously unhinged. Perhaps the most sociopathic single ever pressed. Also hilarious, although you'll undoubtedly feel guilty about laughing!
