The Burden Of Hope begins with the self-titled track, presenting typical emotional Mogwai-sh/ Slowcore-ish Post-Rock, as if an indie musician got an epiphany and started playing existential Lounge music after a depression. Ditto for the loose strumming of "Lord I Hate Your Day".
A bit of the ol' haunted Spaghetti Western and the inevitable epic outburst shift the album in clear Godspeed You! Black Emperor territory in "The Deed", but "In The Beginning" gets trapped once again in a web of emotional anemia.
