Japanese proto-doom metal masters Flower Travellin' Band came roaring out of the gate with this, their 1970 debut. They were first in a long line of bands directly influenced by Black Sabbath's debut album, and along with them, and to a lesser degree Pentagram, they pretty much invented Doom Metal. This is an album of covers (including a cover of the song Black Sabbath) given Flower Travellin' Bands customary intensely passionate heavy swirling psychedelic-doom guitar and carnal thudding drums treatment, layered over with vocalist Joe Yamanaka's primordial wails. In other words, it's a total knockout.
