DIMI DERO INC. - Sisyphus... Window Cleaning CD

$16.00

CD only.

"It's refreshing when a label is aware of its own inconsistency and points out directly in the press release that, for a change, they've signed a non-Australian band, DIMI DERO INC., who represent the exception that proves the rule.

However, there are plenty of arguments in favor of this, as DIMI DERO INC. – behind which lies the Frenchman Dimi Dero, who also works as a music journalist, produced the first JERRY SPIDER GANG album "Porn In The Bayou," and was Nikki Sudden's live drummer – have already shared the stage with THE DRONES and the BEASTS OF BOURBON and toured the Australian continent.

"Sisyphus, Window Cleaning" is their third album and was released in Australia in March 2007 on Off The Hip, and if you didn't know better, you could easily mistake DIMI DERO INC. for a genuine Australian swamp blues band following in the footsteps of the SCIENTISTS.

They skillfully combine the raw, unhinged sound of early BEASTS OF BOURBON with the psychotic sharpness of BAUHAUS, thus elegantly bridging the gap between Europe and Australia, and seasoning the whole thing with a more experimental touch à la Neubauten.

In the tension between harshly direct and aggressive guitar attacks and strangely detached, quieter passages, a highly energetic, captivating form of musical excess develops, where noise and clever songwriting exist symbiotically.

While not entirely contemporary, it is ultimately executed with such power and cohesion that one wonders whether reunions of BAUHAUS and BEASTS OF BOURBON are really necessary, given that they certainly laid the groundwork for a band like DIMI DERO INC.

who were only able to flourish initially, but in direct comparison to the vigor of the French, they appear like rather withered little plants – and it is not difficult to give preference to Mr. Dero in this respect." - Oz Fanzine
