Crumb have quietly carved out a niche as one of the better psych groups out there, honing a distinctive, nocturnal pop sound with occasional sprinkles of jazz fusion, albeit without the crossover success of acts like Unknown Mortal Orchestra or Tame Impala.

The slightly sinister undertones applied to the band's predominantly mellow vibe results in a pretty cool shtick, despite a few listless moments on Ice Melt; a record we liked but felt didn't do enough with the unique ideas this group has to offer.

AMAMA (a tribute in name to vocalist Lila Ramani's grandmother) sweetens the pot on Crumb's formula - there's a much larger emphasis on groove here that aids greatly in keeping things interesting across yet another short runtime. On top, this is a superbly executed album-oriented experience.
