Slumberland
CORDS - s/t LP (colour vinyl)
Limited edition baby blue colour vinyl.
Highly recommended.
Debut album by the Scottish indie rock band of the same name. Their sound is reminiscent of twee pop from the '80s and '90s – jangly guitar chords, short songs, simple structures, and sing-song melodies. Some tracks are a little punk, some are a little shoegaze, but they're never aggressive - everything has soft edges.
We had kinda just written this one off as Just Another Slumberland Album: a breezy jangle pop album with all the typical influences that ends up totally forgettable. But in the months after its release, we have been coming back to it, and it's starting to be more of a standout on its own. At the very least it's on par with the Jeanines debut album.
