Second solo album is made up of two projects coming together, hence the use of the word alchemy in the title. Both projects were worked on in 1985, in between Sylvian's Brilliant Trees and Gone To Earth albums, and featured help from a number of creative types. Avant-garde composer Jon Hassell, Can’s Holger Czukay, Robert Fripp of King Crimson, Ryuichi Sakamoto, jazz trumpeter Kenny Wheeler and fellow Japan bandmate, Steve Jensen all contributed.
