A mildly adventurous and very politically aware hip-hop (with soul elements showing up more as the album progresses), sometimes stripped-back in its instrumentation.

Sampa has a somewhat nasally accent (moreso during raps than when she sings), which may not be to everyone's taste, but she mixes in enough other vocalists that even those who don't appreciate it can still enjoy the songs themselves. Beyond her accent, Sampa's vocals strike a confident pose, sometimes with a streak of anger over the racist elements of the music industry and the world in general, other times just with pride of her heritage.
