From what we hear, Iggy recorded this on his 'days off' from the mental institution that he went into after the Stooges imploded. Thanks to Jimmy Webb for recording (and putting up with) them for the session. We can't imagine what it would have been like to be there at the time, but it is by far the best Iggy has ever been, recording-wise. Probably because it was the worst that he's ever been while recording.

A record about hitting rock bottom and surviving, barely, and only by stubbornness. It's a soundtrack to a very black night, the instrumental closer Master Charge hinting at the first glimpses of a new day, one you probably wouldn't have expected to make it to.
