35th Anniversary edition of the seminal 1989 album. The album is presented in the famous (and as to now unseen) ‘rejected’ sleeve by 8vo. Produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries, New Order).

With its evocative sampled vocal snippets used as harmonic elements of otherwise instrumental music, Vini Reilly anticipates a musical trope of the twenty-first century, but here it’s still entirely fresh. The music behind, if it’s not as sober as on the initial albums, is more in keeping with the Durutti Column’s sound than The Guitar and Other Machines. This album went in the opposite direction of whatever was popular at the time and can be seen as a precursor of post-rock, at least in spirit if not in the way it actually sounds. It’s the last Durutti Column album of the eighties, a decade when their music was truly ahead of its time.
