Guitarists are a dime a dozen but those who change the course of history are quite rare indeed.

When it comes to the evolution of rock music which led to the rowdier branches of punk and metal, the story would not be complete without a mention of Fred Lincoln Wray Jr. better known as LINK WRAY (born in Dunn, NC in 1929 and died in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2005) for his contribution of popularizing the power chord which paved the way for heavier rock to follow.

Unknown to many, WRAY was also a Native American having two parents of Shawnee decent making him one of the most recognized Native Indians in the music industry.

Known as the godfather of punk and heavy metal music, his contributions to fuzz guitar, heavy distortion and power chords were paramount for the 60s guitar gods such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page to build their sounds upon.
