Largely a stripped down affair, Earth-Sun-Moon is a fantastic showcase of the songwriting of David J and Daniel Ash. Much of the album is simple acoustic songs, but there's also some experiments in noise rock, some college rock ala REM or the Replacements, and just plain rock and roll.

After doing a complete 180 degree turn from the previous album, Love and Rockets travel down to the countryside, put on their straw hats and strum away at their acoustic guitars until the cows come home.

Earth Sun Moon shows a less abrasive side to the band after the action packed 1986’s Express. It’s an album that focuses more on simplistic song structures and putting more prominence on the acoustic guitar as it draws more influences from folk than straightforward rock.
