Cairo
v/a- AS TIME DRAWS NEAR LP
Not technically a Cairo records release but it has one of their catalogue numbers and Eric Isaacson of Mississippi Records assisted!
An austere and dialed compilation of 1920's and 1930's ballads. All plaintive solo vocals accompanied by the banjo. No dance songs.
Instead you get intense very American tunes about existential angst, murder, love, mystical happenings and so on. The mana.
As far as Cairo know, this is the first record to compile purely hard hitting banjo ballads from the golden 78 era.
