The group's second album, Siamese Dream, was released in 1993 on Virgin Records label. The album fused diverse influences such as shoegazing, dream pop, grunge, classic rock, heavy metal and prog rock. Siamese Dream earned The Smashing Pumpkins their first Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. The group was also nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal at the Grammy Awards of 1994.
