DEAD BOB - Life Like LP

While the Covid-19 Pandemic and lockdowns were a difficult, disruptive and taxing time for the world, there were some unexpected outcomes that emerged from that time period. Creatives who were essentially holed up at home had a chance to undertake projects they might otherwise not have bothered with. Hence the outpouring of books, re-releases, archival material and other creative ventures we're currently enjoying.

Case in point is Dead Bob, the new project from NoMeansNo drummer John Wright. The pandemic shuttered his brewpub venture in BC and as a result, he decided to dig up some of his old NoMeansNo demos and do some home recording. He's said that originally there was no intent to fire up a new band, but life has a way of coming fast. Given the rabid nature of the NMN fanbase, news of new music from a Wright thrilled us all. Moreover, interested in Dead Bob resulted in John putting together a fantastic touring lineup of some of BC's finest musicians (Invasives' Bryon Slack, Ford Pier of many projects, Kristy from Rong, and Colin McRae from Pigment Vehicle).

The album finds John and his songwriting in fine form, as one should expect. Although almost a decade had passed since his brother retired from music, it feels like no time has passed for John. The guy is such a natural musician and songwriter.
