DAFT PUNK - Human After All 2LP
Double album housed in gatefold sleeve.
This album is crushingly beautiful, and part of the weight of that beauty lies in the repetition - not unlike the Velvet Underground or even Fela Kuti's repetitive Afro-funk. It's made more like a rock record than anything they've done in the past, not just because it's guitar heavy, but also because it tends to use the same instrumentation throughout, as a band would, has more traditional "riffage" (guitar and other).
As far as it being more robotic goes, I have to say, as corny as this might sound, it's not the cold roboticism of a Kraftwerk-style approach - if Kraftwerk was roboticising human made music, then with this record, Daft Punk is humanizing the robot.
