The Preytells formed in Adelaide in 1986, gigging regularly around the live circuit, and supporting interstate and international bands. Until now, the band’s only release had been a cover of the Sunsets “I Want Love”, included on Greasy Pop Records 1988 “Oasis 2” compilation of Adelaide bands. In July of 1992 the Preytells recorded a six track EP at Rap’s Recording Studios, which was also intended to be released on the Greasy Pop label. Singer Mick Reed died on 12 March 1993. The Preytells’ final gig was at the Crown Anchor Hotel in Grenfell St, Adelaide, on 21 February 1993. Unfortunately the EP was not released, and the tapes were thought to be lost(ish). In 2014 the Ampex 456 analog master reel from the 1992 sessions was re-discovered in a Preytells mother’s garden shed. Neville Clark (from Disk-Edits) successfully digitised and mastered the audio files. The release of these four tracks as “The Lost(ish) Tapes” EP coincides with the 30th anniversary of the recording. The EP is dedicated to the memory of Michael ‘Mick’ John Paul Reed
