That means while most instrumentations are hooky in a small scale and drumbeats are tight and earwormy all the way through, the most prominent and ear-pleasing part shifts from rhythm-based (like the bass in You Tell Me) to melody-based (like the violin in The Clark Sisters).

These two tracks might also feature Robert Forster's best vocal performance here: dreamy, caring, and sexy in the former, and sharp and edgy in the latter (his singing can also go a bit quirkier years later) while his partner's is a bit less varied: coarser and more pragmatic albeit still a bit edgy.

As no love stories happen here, Tallulah is an album about love's preconditions where the duo writes as many songs from the perspective of the other gender as from their own, most of which are called empathetic love songs: extending emotional support while encouraging self-reliance.
